Since its foundation in 1989, the Seniors’ Association within the South Tyrolean Farmers’ Association has been committed to representing the interests and concerns of older people, in particular former farm women and farmers. The Provincial President is Theresia Agreiter Larcher. Her deputies are Johann Weissensteiner and Rita Vantsch Verginer.
The Seniors’ Association has an elected provincial committee, five elected district committees (Bolzano/Lowlands, Burggrafenamt, Venosta Valley, Isarco Valley/Wipptal, Puster Valley) and 68 local groups.
It is represented at local and national level in various organisations that advocate for the interests of senior citizens.
The Seniors’ Association within the South Tyrolean Farmers’ Association is one of the largest and strongest senior citizens’ organisations in the region.
District of Bolzano/Lowlands: 15 local groups, approx. 5,000 members
District of Burggrafenamt: 10 local groups, approx. 3,000 members
District of Venosta Valley: 9 local groups, approx. 1,800 members
District of Isarco Valley/Wipptal: 17 local groups, approx. 2,400 members
District of Puster Valley: 17 local groups, approx. 2,500 members
The average age of members is around 75 years.
55% of members are women and 45% are men.
Services
The Seniors’ Association offers its members a wide variety of services.
The Seniors’ Association within the South Tyrolean Farmers’ Association organises various trips and excursions in Italy and abroad for senior citizens every year.
In both spring/summer and autumn, day trips, relaxing holiday weeks, health spa stays and city breaks are offered, providing a varied programme as well as time for relaxation, new encounters and memorable experiences.
